One day at Beijing - the start

“Shall we plan a trip this Sunday” I asked my colleague on a boring Thursday noon. All chinese we work with were having their usual post-lunch catnap.

“We shall go to Tai’an mountains” Baskar said. “And also cover Jinen. I have to deliver a curd-maker to one of my Indian friends’ there”.

“Anything famous or historical there?”

“Nothing much. The mountain is one of the highest in this province. There are some buddhist temples and some gardens and museums around the city.”

“Mmmm. What about the Great Wall? How distant is the Great Wall from here?”

“Its far north. May be around 800 kilometers. I already went there few months back. But we can go there. It will be a worthy trip. We will have to check out the flight availability and fares.” He started surfing the net to check. “Or we shall go in bullet train too.”

“I haven’t traveled in one so far. We better take a bullet train.”

“Even I haven’t travelled in bullet train. Let me check with our taxi driver about it.”

The Chinese came back to work sharp at 1 o’clock. Chinese further break their one hour lunch-break 15 minutes lunch-break and 45 minutes nap-break.
“We should appreciate the way of these guys” I said. “Work while you work and sleep while you sleep.”
I have read somewhere that a nap of 15 minutes after lunch will rejuvenate and keeps our brain fresh whole afternoon.

On our way back to hotel, we asked the taxi driver to get details regarding the bullet train.

Next day he collected our passports to book the tickets.  Thus started our “One Day Beijing” trip ……
